Ala

Ala is a decenarian fid at the opening of the novel, around the age of Erasmas and his friends. She is somewhat bossy and stuck up, and Erasmas dislikes her for this at first, though they are later romantically involved. At Eliger she joins the New Circle, to no one's surprise. Shortly after agreeing to begin an Etrevenean Liason with Erasmas, she is Evoked with five other avout from Saunt Edhar's.
After being evoked from Saunt Edhar's, Ala becomes very important in the convox, essentially helping to organize the response that Arbre is creating to the pending threat of the space ship now in orbit. Her skill at organization and logistics come to the forefront when the convox (and indeed, all other concents across Arbre) disperse according to a scheme of her invention, the Antiswarm.
